Dear esteemed readers,
It is with immense joy and pleasure that I welcome you to have a peek into Qosmo International School. We are proud to be part of an international collective that is committed to giving back to its community, right here in the heart of Petaling Jaya.
Qosmo International School was established in April 2019, setting out to redefine ‘Education, the way it should be’. Our ethos is something that each and every one of us holds close to our mind and guides our values in providing the best education possible. The methodologies we have implemented have also received much praise from parents and attention from the ASEAN Chamber of Commerce, with whom we have forged an alliance with.
We continue striving to achieve excellence by providing a holistic education from the preschool level up to A-levels. I’m proud to say that the programmes and curricula developed in-house are the product of sleepless nights, continuous trial-and-error and a burning desire to positively transform education in Malaysia, one step at a time. Our trademark programmes include the RISE and SOAR programmes, a student-centred approach to learning, as well as the mentorship programme have successfully helped many of our students in their academic careers.
To bring some insight into my background, my passion as an educator began as a student-tutor whilst studying in Saint Louis University in Madrid. Teaching English as a second language to university students and adults. I then expanded to teaching embassy officials and working professionals in the city and from there, I travelled to the far east to broaden my horizons. This quest brought me to South Korea, where I noticed the gap in educational methodologies between the United States, Europe and many Asian international schools. This became more apparent when I arrived in Malaysia to teach in, and later run private international schools, while pursuing my doctorate degree. All throughout I observed the standard teaching methodologies used in various school systems and, as the end result, I was able to use all these experiences to develop a well-rounded and unique teaching methodology that we apply at Qosmo today for the benefit of our students - A truly international system of education.
With the current pandemic and rising number of cases, we at Qosmo International School are dedicated to protecting our student body and staff members. It is with great honour that I am able to announce that there has yet to be a positive Covid-19 case amongst our community as we have been exercising stringent measures throughout. This includes actively encouraging and practicing social distancing, stringent standards in personal hygiene and keeping our building clean and sanitised, as advised by the Malaysian MOH and WHO.
And once again, on behalf of the Qosmo International School community, welcome!
Brendan Lanza
CEO of Qosmo International School
Dear esteemed readers,
This is my 20th year in education, most of which I have spent in Asia. In fact, I have been teaching in Malaysia for the past 10 years, where I have taught people of all ages, from as young as 5 to 65.
Having first started as a school teacher before being elected principal, I worked my way up from the ground. During my time as a teacher in Korea, I realised that there were many differences in methodology compared to the various international schools I studied at in the United States and in Europe. This was even more apparent to me when I arrived in Malaysia to teach in an international school, all while pursuing my Ph.D.
In December 2012, I started UCSI International School for the owner from scratch. I became the Head of Operations there and at Sri UCSI School. Following that success, I was promoted to Special Assistant of the Chairman, who personally mentored me at Group level. I also had the opportunity to manage several companies in my role of the management of the Group. However, I felt that my work at the school was not yet finished.
Determined to make my contribution, I spent several sleepless nights developing a new school system and methodology, backed by my own research and testing sessions. This grew into a burning passion and I continued searching for the method which I intended to use to change education for the better in Malaysia. With that in mind, I left UCSI Group. It gave me the freedom to create Qosmo International School and implement two features that would later become known as our trademark programmes; the RISE and SOAR programmes. I then joined my current partner, Diego Gestri, a well-traveled and experienced businessman, with the vision to make Qosmo International School a reality.
We were licensed in April 2019 and set out to build a school that would redefine the way education should be done. Today, Qosmo International School has currently started its second successful term in the new academic calendar. During this time, we have received much praise and have even forged a new alliance with the ASEAN Chamber of Commerce, who wishes to promote Qosmo’s new methodology worldwide. Qosmo International School is truly just getting started in its first steps towards making, “Education, The Way It Should Be.”
