Upper Secondary (IGCSE)

Year 9–Year 10: deeper understanding, growing responsibility, and readiness for what comes next.

DEEPER

KNOWLEDGE,

GREATER INDEPENDENCE.

Upper Secondary at Qosmo International School covers Year 9–Year 10, following the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum. During this stage, students strengthen their subject knowledge, develop greater academic responsibility and prepare for further education. Through continued teacher guidance, mentorship and a personal learning environment, our programme supports students as they become more independent, confident and purposeful in their studies.

Our Upper Secondary Philosophy

A Purposeful Approach toIGCSE Learning

Upper Secondary represents an important stage of academic progression, where students develop deeper subject understanding and take greater responsibility for their education. At Qosmo, Year 9–Year 10 follows the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum, providing the academic focus for this stage of their school journey.

Our approach encourages students to engage thoughtfully with their studies while strengthening their confidence, communication and learning habits. Throughout this period, teacher guidance and a personal school environment remain central to supporting their academic and individual development.

Building Readiness forFurther Education

As students progress through Year 9–Year 10, they are encouraged to strengthen their subject knowledge, think more independently and become increasingly accountable for their academic progress.

At Qosmo, we support students in navigating these expectations through clear guidance and a structured approach to learning. Students are encouraged to question ideas, evaluate their understanding and develop responsible study habits as they prepare for the next stage of their educational journey.

Our emphasis is on helping students approach further education with stronger academic understanding, greater independence and a clearer sense of responsibility.

Developing Academic Ownership andPersonal Maturity

The IGCSE years are a significant period of academic and personal development, where students learn to manage increasing expectations and take a more active role in shaping their progress.

At Qosmo, we recognise that academic growth goes hand in hand with developing confidence, resilience and sound judgement. We encourage students to approach their responsibilities with maturity while making thoughtful decisions about their future.

Our approach supports the development of:

  • Academic confidence in their knowledge and abilities
  • Personal accountability for learning and daily study habits
  • Effective communication and meaningful participation
  • Resilience and independent learning
  • Readiness for the expectations of further education

Continued Guidance forIndependent Learners

Greater independence does not mean learning without support. During the IGCSE years, students continue to benefit from the guidance and encouragement of their teachers.

Qosmo maintains a personal school environment where mentorship and meaningful teacher support remain important as academic expectations increase. We believe students are better positioned to progress when they feel recognised, supported and appropriately challenged.

Our aim is to provide an environment that values individual development, allowing students to strengthen their abilities without excessive pressure or being defined solely by academic performance.

Balancing Academic Progress withPersonal Growth

Upper Secondary places greater emphasis on academic understanding and preparation for further education, while continuing to recognise the importance of personal development.

At Qosmo, our Year 9–Year 10 programme supports students in strengthening their knowledge, developing confidence and becoming more responsible learners. Alongside their academic progress, we continue to encourage student voice, meaningful participation and guided independence, recognising these as important aspects of their development throughout the IGCSE stage.
